We are delighted to be adding Ladbroke Deco to our growing list of exclusive locations. Situated in the heart of West London’s fashionable Notting Hill, this incredible property is luxurious yet tasteful, and endlessly adaptable for many different kinds of products.
We caught up with the owner, Danny Pine, for the details:
Can you give us an insight into the improvements made after the recent renovation?
The house has had a back to brick renovation with all the usual up to date smart home technology inconspicuously present such as intelligent lighting, full AV and comfort heating/cooling. The house also has a spa and gym.
Can you talk us through the features that were designed or influenced by Gio Ponti and Carlo Scarpa?
Particular features inspired by the giants of 20th-century architecture Ponti and Scarpa include the brass inlay to the ceiling in the library and the motif in the rug in the screening room. There is also furniture designed by Ponti including the hall writing desk as well as the two sconces as you enter the house.
Can you give us an insight into why this colour scheme was chosen and why it works?
In general, we used warm yet calm tones throughout the house which lend serenity in the bedrooms and intimacy in the dining room and the library.
Why did you decide on JJ to represent you exclusively?
We felt that JJ had the reach of a large company but could look after the property in a bespoke and sensitive way.
How did you strike such a pleasing balance between vintage and modern furniture?
My golden rule with vintage furniture is to buy pieces I really love rather than worry too much about where an individual piece will fit. Once I had collected the pieces over the course of the project, I sourced complimentary modern items to complete all the spaces.
Where did you source your furniture?
The vintage pieces were sourced from dealers in Italy and the UK as well as from auctions in Italy. I find Alfie’s Antiques is a great place for inspirational pieces.
Finally, where is your favourite spot in the house to enjoy breakfast?
Definitely, the breakfast bar overlooking the patio garden at the back of the house – a place for quiet contemplation…
